AMS Special Session:   Computational Algebraic Geometry and Applications
March 10-11, 2012, Tampa, Florida

    Purpose:   The purpose of this special session is to bring together researchers who use methods of computational algebraic geometry in  to solve classical problems and explore new applications.  Topics include but are not limited to:
    • Algebraic curves
    • Jacobians of curves
    • superelliptic curves and their Jacobians
    • theta functions of curves (rational theta-nulls)
    • invariants of binary forms
    • the moduli space of curves
    • equations of curves with fixed automorphism group
    • algebraic curves covering elliptic curves and their applications in cryptography
    • Abelian varieties
    • String theory
    • toric varieties
